I was keen to go to the local West Lakes Seniors Computer Club,

ASCCA

Australian Seniors Computer Clubs Association

its the only place close to where I live that I can learn about Adobe Photoshop. I made my way out there at the appointed time, paid to join the computer club, paid for the course now all I have to do is wait, its only taken me about two years to learn how to use. Especially seeing that I collect second hand & used books computer books of all types

Then it was time for the meeting which took a long while start, but when it did it was good , to listen to the speakers, for me it was an eye opening event to see so many elderly people that were involved with computers and running the club itself, it really challenged what everyone seems to say that older people don’t absorb new technology. Now I really know this is not true because of my friendships with some close friends, but to see so many was a very good sight indeed.

The guest speaker was Andrew Boyce from the Morisset library, the speech was very informative, about how the library will be used in the future what things will stay & what things drop by the wayside, all in all it was very informative.

Or come along to Lake Macquarie Secondhand Books “Australia’s most trusted Online Bookshop” and find that used book you want.

Good Luck

Where did you get your name? after a past family member, or are you more adventurous and name your children after characters in books, or famous people maybe a first love then again it could have been some other reason.

Just in the last couple of weeks a very close family friend called Laura had just given birth to healthy little girl, I can remember her telling me that when she was reading To Kill a Mocking Bird by Harper Lee and that her favorite character was Jean Louise (Scout) & if she was lucky enough to have a daughter that was the name she would chose.

Now as things go and they usually do approximately ten days ago after much labor a beautiful little girl called Scout arrived to the joy of family and friends alike her mum had to do the all the work anyway. Her close friends were all around to support.

I have been busy working in the used book shop, but today I was lucky enough to call in and see Laura & Scout, and what a beautiful baby girl she is, I only hope she enjoys reading as much as her mum, which I’m sure she will. I know she will get lots of good books delivered at just the right moment. Go Laura & Scout.

A good book has no ending. ~R.D. Cumming

With all the rain today, she who must be obeyed said “Lets go to Toronto you need your medicine, yes right okay I have two minutes to get in the car.

Grand opening

Off we go down the wet road all the way to Toronto, first stop lets have a quick look at the Salvation Army shop, what a surprise for us when we went the new book section was finished but had a ribbon across the entrance. Can we go in? No it will be opening in about half an hour, great we can wait for that. Anne is having fun looking at the bargains around the shop.
Me I just went out the front and started to play with my trusty little digital camera while I’m waiting when I noticed a crowd at the back of the shop.
Well I better go and have a look, of course I’m off to have a look, what do you know? Here is the unveiling of the new used books section, out with the camera and snap a few shots of the local Minister cutting the ribbon.
Then we are all allowed to go in and have a look, all the workers and me. I’m like a kid in a candy shop, looking at the good used books.  I chose a few biographies a nice local history book.
If you know Anne she’s talking to everyone, meeting friends from around the western side of Lake Macquarie I’m sure she knows everyone from Warners Bay to Morisset. Soon Anne is in the book room hunting for those extra good used books that everyone is looking for as usual Anne selected some great fictionnon-fiction books, while I’m looking for my glasses now where did I put them?
Then in walks Faye a friend from our old  bookshop. After we picked our books, Anne had her bargains for everyones birthday for the next twelve months, we are off  to see the grandkids which turned out to be a quick trip,  but first a bowl of pumkin soup cup of tea, then its bye bye Kate & co.
We can go back to work now seeing we left Leslie in the shop all on his lonesome and he had to leave and go and deliver some flyers to the local businesses while we had a little break oh happy Friday wish I could go camping.

When you work in a used bookshop you met all sorts of people, the overwhelming majority    are so nice its amazing. why just this morning a lady came into the shop she was just browsing  &  I didn’t even see her as a matter of fact, when I did I thought it was my wife Anne but no it  wasn’t. I was getting ready for a new day. “Excuse me can you tell me where the fantasy section  is?”  “yes” I’m only too happy to do that, a little while latter with the selection of second hand fantasy books of her choice, paid for and in a recycled bag.
We struck up a conversation about the our bookshop and how she drove past every day for well over twelve months but wasn’t game to call in because of her fear that it might be a bookshop of a more ribald type, no we just sell books now I’m sure we do have some various books that may fit into a erotic or lurid or even pornographic but very few indeed.
Every now and then we get someone trying to sell me nudist books or old magazines but as a rule I don’t want these or magazines. We never get many second hand books of that type maybe the people don’t like to let them go.
If you want to sell your book  email me at .  Wanted Erotic Used Books or call Jim at (02) 4973 5925
